“British hospitality at its very best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2014

From the start I had a pleasant discussion with the owner Doreen, her emails were clear and concise. As we would be arriving by car she provided a short route description for us, because relying on GPS will bring you to a different address (it happened to us). Follow the written instructions or postcode when using GPS. This guesthouse has received the 5 star excellence award from Tripadvisor and rightly so. We had booked two rooms and both were immaculate. They were bright, clean and cozy, exactly what one would expect from a owner run bed & breakfast facility.

The only setbacks were that a) they are a bit small if one travels with large suitcases and b) the washbasin of room 3 has separate taps for hot and cold water (no mixing) which can make washing your face and/or shaving very cold, especially if you are used to the water temperatures in Asia. As the house is relatively close to Heathrow airport, one can hear planes flying overhead (during daytime almost 1 per 90 seconds), but the noise is not intruding and after a while you do not even hear it anymore. The English breakfast was abundant & delicious, Doreen even went out of her way to find us chicken sausages. When she couldn't get those she found us delicious beef sausages instead. We used the guesthouse as a basis for our visits to London. Tip 1: take the car and park it at Slough train station (parking is GBP 7.10 per day), then take the train from Slough into Paddington station (15-20 minutes). Tip 2: if planning to visit London consider buying the London Pass with Travelcard. Free entry to most main attractions and unlimited travel on the MRT (it saved us a lot of money).

In short:
Great location with spacious free parking
Excellent hosts (Doreen & Robert are fantastic)
Nice cozy, clean rooms
Delicious breakfast
Free WIFI
Great for kids too with large garden and lovely dog Darcy

I am from Holland, but my family and I live in Asia - I wanted to show them what a typical British bed and breakfast is all about and Rainworth house exceeded that by 10 times.

Warmly recommended
